About Desert Outpost
Desert Outpost is a compact real-time strategy battle fought on a sun-baked plateau, and the perfect place to learn how to command an army. You start with a lone construction yard and three hover harvesters already skimming toward the golden ore fields beside your base. Every load they haul home turns into credits, and credits become buildings and troops. Drop a power plant first, then a barracks, and the sidebar lights up with rifle bots, rocket bots and flame bots. Add a war factory for heavy hover tanks and long-range artillery, raise a radar to bring the minimap online, and ring your base with gun turrets or a crackling tesla coil. The red faction is doing exactly the same thing on the far side of the mesa, hidden under the fog of war until your scouts push forward. Real combat rules decide every fight: rifles shred infantry but bounce off armour, rockets punch through tanks, artillery outranges every defence and flamers melt packed squads. A gentle coach strip walks you through the first base, unit by unit, until you are ready to drag-select your whole army, attack-move across the sand and blow up the enemy construction yard. Pick Recruit for a relaxed first match or Commander for a real fight.
How to play
Mouse: drag to box-select, right-click to move or attack, A then click to attack-move, H hold, S stop, Ctrl+1–9 save squads and 1–9 recall them. Build from the sidebar (click a cameo, then click the ground). Scroll with arrow keys, screen edges or right-drag; wheel zooms, Q/E rotate. Touch: tap a unit then the ground, drag to scroll, pinch to zoom, use the Select button or long-press to box-select.
