About Beat Hurdles
Beat Hurdles turns the runner into a one-button rhythm race on a red athletics track. You line up between two rival sprinters in a packed stadium, with grandstands, flags and sponsor boards flying past, and the hurdles arrive in time with a steady metronome. Every tick is your cue: jump on the beat and your feet clear the bar right at the top of the arc for a Perfect, worth the most points. Slightly early or late still counts as a clean clear, but the timing ring at the bottom of the screen shows exactly how close you were. Chain clean jumps to build a streak and raise your multiplier, and watch your rivals, who occasionally clip a hurdle and send it clattering. Hitting one yourself costs a heart; lose all three and the race is over. Every eight hurdles the tempo rises and the track speeds up, so what starts as a relaxed jog becomes a frantic sprint. Coins float over some hurdles for extra points. You never change lanes here, so it plays perfectly with a single tap on a phone or the space bar on a keyboard.
How to play
Tap, press Space or ↑ to jump. Jump on the tick, when the note reaches the ring, for a Perfect. Each knocked hurdle costs one of three hearts.
