About Jump Rope Jam

Jump Rope Jam is a skipping party for up to four kids on a sunny park playground, and you play it with your real body. Turn on your camera, stand back until your head and feet fit in the picture, and every time you hop the skipper on your mat hops too, over a rope that swings round and round. Each player has a rope of their own, side by side, with a big counter bubble over every head so you always know who is ahead. The party has three rounds. In the Speed round you score as many clean jumps as you can in thirty seconds, and every jump in a row makes your rope spin a little faster. In the Survival round all the ropes speed up together; a trip only costs one of your three hearts, and the last skipper still jumping wins. Then comes Star Jacks, a short bonus of jumping jacks with arms up and feet apart. Each round hands out stars and the most stars take the podium. The camera picture stays on your device: nothing is recorded or sent, only your hops are counted, and a small preview shows the stick figure the game sees. No camera? Tap the space bar or the big hop button in time with the rope instead. Play three computer skippers on your own, or go online through Quick Match, a private room or an invite link, where camera jumpers and button tappers share the same ropes and the same fair timing.

How to play

Choose Play with my body to use the camera: stand so your whole body fits and hop each time your rope sweeps under your feet (the ring at your feet closes right on the beat); in Star Jacks do jumping jacks. Or choose Keys & touch: press SPACE (or tap HOP) as your rope reaches your feet, and once per jumping jack in the bonus round. Online: pick Quick Match, Create room or Invite on the game page; in the waiting room press Start when everyone is ready, empty mats are then skipped by the computer.
